The Mathematics Unit Plans have been written to provide teachers with:

• Guidance and support for planning mathematics lessons;
• A link between planning from the Framework for teaching mathematics and medium term plans;
• A structure for their planning that reduces workload;
• Support for planning the content, pace and pitch of lessons

In years 1 to 3 the Unit Plans focus upon:

• ordering numbers;
• counting on and back;
• partitioning and recombining;
• addition/subtraction facts within 20;
• understanding the four operations;
• problem solving strategies

In this section you will find examples of unit plans which have been adapted to incorporate the use of the electronic whiteboard to enhance learning and teaching, and the associated resources such as PowerPoints, electronic resources and whiteboard files. It is expected that these files are adapted to meet the needs of your children. Information on modifying electronic whiteboard files is available in the Software and Guidance section of this site.
